With your free library card, the possibilities are endless! You can borrow books, access eBooks and eMagazines, use our services and more.
How to join
Adults
Complete the online form at the bottom of this page. You will receive a temporary membership number that you can use right away with some of our online services. Please make a note of your number. Visit one of our libraries, and bring the number with you along with proof of identity and we can set you up as a full member. You will be issued a library card which enables you to borrow items and use our computers. If you have no proof of name and address, you will be given an Internet Plus membership. This allows you to borrow 2 books and access computers for 30 minutes per day. We will ask you to come back with your ID to upgrade you to full membership. Children and Teenagers Under 16s need to ask a parent, guardian or carer to complete a form on their behalf and proof of identification showing name and address.
Examples of identity with name and address are:
- Medical card
- Current drivers license
- Pension book
- Child Benefit book
- Council rent book
- Official letter - for example, a recent telephone, gas, water, electricity bill.
- Any other official document providing that it has both your name and address.
